Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Doctorine, a developer-documentation and API-portal platform operated by Doctorine B.V. ("Doctorine", "we", "us"). By creating an account, using the service, or accepting an order form, you agree to these Terms. If you use Doctorine for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

Business use

Doctorine is a business service for companies, teams, and professional users. It is not intended for personal, household, or consumer use. You are responsible for making sure your users comply with these Terms.

The service

Doctorine lets customers import, edit, preview, publish, roll back, and serve developer documentation and API references. The platform includes account administration, hosted documentation portals, custom domains, analytics, search, billing, and related tools. We may improve or change the service over time, including by adding, modifying, or removing features.

Accounts and administration

You must provide accurate account and billing information and keep it up to date. Workspace administrators are responsible for user invitations, permissions, connected services, project settings, published content, and billing choices. You are responsible for activity under your account and must protect credentials, sessions, API keys, and connected integrations.

Customer content

You retain ownership of documentation, specifications, files, metadata, and other content that you create, upload, import, or publish through Doctorine. You grant Doctorine the limited rights needed to host, process, transform, secure, preview, publish, cache, display, and serve that content as directed by your workspace settings. You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed for customer content and for the legal accuracy of published documentation.

Restricted content and regulated data

Do not use Doctorine to store or process payment card numbers, protected health information, government classified information, biometric identifiers, passwords, private keys, production secrets, export-controlled technical data, or special-category personal data unless we have agreed in writing to a specific regulated-data arrangement. Doctorine may reject, quarantine, remove, or suspend content that creates legal, security, or abuse risk.

Acceptable use

• Do not use Doctorine for unlawful, harmful, deceptive, infringing, or abusive activity.
• Do not publish malware, phishing pages, credential-harvesting flows, spam, or deceptive impersonation.
• Do not probe, bypass, or attack authentication, authorization, rate limits, tenant isolation, or private-docs controls.
• Do not overload, disrupt, scrape, resell, or reverse engineer the service except as permitted by law.
• Do not use the service to violate sanctions, export-control, privacy, or intellectual-property laws.

Security

We use technical and organizational controls to protect the service, but you are responsible for your own endpoint security, account hygiene, workspace permissions, content review, and integration configuration. Report security concerns to security@doctorine.xyz.

Plans, billing, and renewal

Self-serve subscriptions are purchased through Stripe Checkout and managed through the Stripe Customer Portal. Unless an order form says otherwise, subscription fees renew automatically for the selected billing interval until cancelled. You can cancel through the Customer Portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless required by law or stated differently in an order form.

Taxes

Prices are exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for taxes, duties, levies, and government charges arising from your purchase or use of Doctorine, other than taxes on Doctorine's income. Stripe Tax may calculate and collect VAT, GST, sales tax, or similar taxes based on your location, customer type, tax identifiers, and applicable registrations. If you provide a valid VAT or tax ID, reverse-charge or exemption treatment may apply where the law permits it.

Refunds, trials, and fair use

Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated in an order form. Free plans, trials, credits, AI usage, bandwidth, pageviews, custom domains, and other resources may be subject to limits, fair-use controls, abuse prevention, or plan changes. We may suspend or limit activity that threatens service reliability, security, or other customers.

Privacy and data processing

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. Where Doctorine processes personal data for a customer as processor, our Data Processing Agreement applies. Current trust and subprocessor information is published at /trust/subprocessors/.

Intellectual property

Doctorine and its software, interfaces, workflows, designs, trademarks, and documentation are owned by Doctorine or its licensors. Except for the rights expressly granted in these Terms, no rights are transferred. If you provide feedback, you grant us the right to use it without restriction or compensation.

Confidentiality

Non-public product, security, technical, pricing, roadmap, and business information disclosed by either party must be protected with reasonable care and used only for the relationship under these Terms, unless it is already public, independently developed, lawfully received from another source, or required to be disclosed by law.

Beta features

Preview, beta, experimental, or early-access features may be changed or discontinued at any time and may not be covered by support commitments, service levels, or compatibility guarantees.

Availability and support

We aim to provide a reliable service, but Doctorine is provided without a guaranteed uptime commitment unless a signed order form or SLA states one. Maintenance, provider failures, security incidents, abuse mitigation, or events outside our control may affect availability.

Termination

You may stop using Doctorine at any time and may cancel paid plans through the Customer Portal. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, non-payment, legal risk, security risk, or abuse. After termination, we may delete customer content after a reasonable export period unless law, an order form, or a security obligation requires retention.

Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Doctorine is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. You are responsible for reviewing content before publication and for keeping your own backups where appropriate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost goodwill, or business interruption. Doctorine's total liability for all claims is limited to the amounts paid by you to Doctorine in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 100 if you used only a free plan.

Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Doctorine against claims arising from your customer content, your use of the service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, excluding conflict-of-law rules. The competent courts in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory law requires another forum.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
